The documentary "Chinese Embroiderers" screening and forum focuses on the inheritance of embroidery culture and industrial upgrading
Embroidery has always been an important cultural symbol for conveying emotions and cherishing memories. Recently, a screening and discussion session for the documentary "Chinese Embroiderers," themed "Spring Breeze from Ten Fingers, Brocade Across Ten Thousand Miles," was grandly held at the People's Daily New Media Building. From March 5th to 9th, the documentary "Chinese Embroiderers" officially aired on the Central Radio and Television Station's documentary channel (CCTV-9). The documentary was jointly produced by Beijing Xingkong Culture Development Co., Ltd. and China Energy Automobile Communication Group, with co-production units including the Consumer Goods Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Datang Fengyun (Beijing) Film Co., Ltd., and the production undertaken by China International Television Corporation (Beijing) Co., Ltd. The entire film is divided into five episodes—"East: Prosperous Flowers Rise in the East Wind," "South: Fish and Dragons Dance in the Southern Ocean," "West: Clouds and霞绕西岭," "North: Danxi Reflects the North," and "Central: Autumn Water Composes the Midstream." It showcases the cultural customs of different regions from multiple perspectives, conveying the beauty of people, places, embroidery, and emotions, constructing a unique "three-dimensional aesthetic" and providing a vivid interpretation of the modern communication of intangible cultural heritage.
[High-Level Guests Discuss Industrial Integration and Cultural Communication]
At the forum, He Yaqiong, Director of the Consumer Goods Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, offered warm congratulations on the successful broadcast of the documentary and pointed out that embroidery, as an important carrier of China's intangible cultural heritage, embodies wisdom and cultural essence. She stated that the Consumer Goods Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is actively promoting the deep integration of embroidery techniques with modern textiles, assisting the transformation and upgrading of traditional handicrafts to intelligent manufacturing, and achieving a close connection between skill inheritance and market demand.
Xie Rongbin, Party Secretary, Chairman, and Editor-in-Chief of China Energy Automobile Communication Group, highly praised "Chinese Embroiderers" for showcasing the ingenuity and dedication of the embroiderers with delicate camera language, calling it "a vivid practice of cultural confidence." He suggested further expanding the documentary's influence through diverse forms such as short videos and cultural and creative products, pushing the "Chinese Embroiderers" Brand to the international stage, and telling the story of a new era in China.
[Supporting Rural Revitalization: Cooperation Agreement Signed]
During the forum, the Intangible Cultural Heritage Office of the China Textile Industry Federation, the China Embroiderers project team, and Shuanglong Town, Huayuan County, Xiangxi Prefecture, Hunan Province, signed a strategic cooperation agreement to support the development of the Miao embroidery industry in rural revitalization. Shi Shunlian, the former village secretary of Shibadong Village, demonstrated exquisite embroidery skills and recounted the journey of the Miao embroidery industry from hardship to prosperity. She expressed gratitude for the poverty alleviation policies that allowed embroiderers to become prosperous at their doorstep, achieving the beautiful vision of "supporting their families through embroidery" through the "cooperative + enterprise" model. Shi Shunlian also offered her wishes for the future of Miao embroidery, hoping to use the "Belt and Road" initiative as a springboard to turn traditional culture into the "golden key" for rural revitalization.
[Experts Gather to Discuss the Industrialization Path of Embroidery]
At the forum, several industry experts offered valuable suggestions on the creation of embroidery cultural and creative product IPs and industrial transformation. Ren Wei, a provincial representative inheritor of Han embroidery, shared her indissoluble bond with embroidery and called on all sectors of society to increase attention and support for embroiderers. Sun Huaibin, a special consultant to the Intangible Cultural Heritage Office of the China Textile Federation, pointed out that the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage textiles needs to break through the "artistic island" and build a dual engine of "industrialization + life." He also suggested using the platform of UNESCO to promote the overseas screening of the documentary and enhance international discourse power. Representatives from the Shandong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology and experts from the China Television Association also painted a grand blueprint for the development of the embroidery industry from the perspectives of Brand building, market expansion, and innovation and entrepreneurship.

"Chinese Embroiderers" is not only a documentary showcasing embroidery art and the ingenuity of women artisans but also a cross-border dialogue between the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage and modern industrial upgrading. With the active participation and diverse explorations of all sectors, this ancient art of embroidery is radiating new vitality, helping Chinese traditional culture go global and continuing to write a splendid chapter in a new era.
